The tumor is gone, chemotherapy is done so what is next in my treatment plan; RADIATION.

The medical oncologist is nice enough to give me about a month off to rest before the radiation starts. I had an appointment with my radiation oncologist, I already knew her, and she was my husband’s oncologist the year before. See in 2004 my husband was diagnosed with stage 1 testicular cancer. I am not sure why we both got the big C let’s just call it luck. Good or bad I am not sure but its luck just the same.

No pain, no gain, right? Well, maybe in certain scenarios, this old motto is false. A runner in training should expect fatigue. They should expect . They should also anticipate that not every run will be a good one. But what about when these truths start piling up? Does the runner need to learn to push through or is it possible that backing off will be the key to their success?

While it might not seem possible, a runner can actually over-train and negatively impact their performance.

Over-training is characterized as not allowing the body to rest and recover from the stress of training.

As its summer we ideally want to spend less time in the gym and more time outdoors. If its not sunny out at least its warmer and more bearable to exercise in the open than the rest of the year and if you are lucky enough to live somewhere hot, well then a gym is not somewhere you really want to be with the nice weather.

Ideally we would all like to feel in good shape, feel well and exercise without the need for fancy equipment.

I have to admit, I’ve never quit understood the whole energy drink craze. I tried a sip of Red Bull once and it tasted like cough syrup to me. But, at lot of people swear by them. And, when people do things, their kids often follow their examples.

A new report published in the journal Pediatrics is advising against giving children and teenagers energy drinks and say that sports drinks should be avoided unless the kids are actually playing sports. The report, done by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), not only warned against giving kids energy and sports drinks, but also cautioned against soda and coffee drinks as well.

Running is by far one of the cheapest ways to get fit. All you need are shoes, some gym/running clothes and you’re all set! It is common for most people who want to lose weight to begin some sort of a running regimen.

Running your first 5k is a great benchmark by which you can test your cardiovascular fitness. Running a 5k race (whether timed in an official event or by yourself) will not only challenge you but will also give you a sense of fulfillment when you finish. Y
