When you let go of old grudges or hurts and move on, you not only free yourself up to look forward positively, but you may actually help your health. It is the benefit of healing.

Holding on to negativity can really drain you. It can affect you physically, mentally and spiritually, and may even cause real physical pain and anxiety. The stress that you suffer can also lead to more serious problems, from hair loss to high blood pressure.

The elite athlete has different nutritional needs than the weekend warrior. We can all agree on that, yes?

Professional athletes train for hours every day and their dietary needs far surpass those of the typical exerciser. They have higher and require carb levels that will give them both short bursts of energy and long levels for endurance.

Gatorade, the company most well known for recovery beverages, has created a line of product for professional athletes called Gatorade Pro.

Marathoning has taught me so much. I’ve learned about the sport. I’ve learned about the human body. I’ve learned about human spirit. And, I’ve learned a lot about myself.

My marathon career began in 2007. My journey began as a slow and uninformed runner. Today I am proud to be a a two time finisher. My journey may be unique, but I believe the lessons I’ve learned along the way could be of value to any runner or hopeful Boston Qualifier.

Every race distance must be respected. However, many gifted runners can water down the training for shorter distances. But not t

Babies who are still drinking from a bottle at 2 years of age may be prone to obesity by the time they turn 5, a new study suggests.

For the study, researchers analyzed data on 6,750 children who participated in the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Birth Cohort, which included kids from around the United States born in 2001.

About 22% of the children continued to use bottles regularly at 24 months of age, meaning they mainly drank from a bottle or were put to bed with one.

At age 5, about 23% of the children who drank from a bottle at age 2 were obese, compared to about 16% of kids who’d stopped using a bottle by age 2, according to the study.

That makes children still using a bottle at age 2 about 33% more likely to be obese than children who were weaned sooner, the researchers said.

One likely explanation for the finding: kids who are still drinking from a bottle at age 2 are probably consuming more calories than they need, the study authors said.

“At older ages, the bottle is probably used for comfort and convenience rather than nourishment,” said study lead author Rachel Gooze, a doctoral candidate in public health at Temple University’s Center for Obesity Research and Education in Philadelphia.

The study will be published in an upcoming issue of .

Children were considered obese if their body mass index [BMI, a ratio of weight to height] was at or above the 95th percentile for their age.

If you have a family member or friend who has just been diagnosed with cancer you may want to help but do not really know how. When I first was diagnosed with cancer only my family was told, and my work but I did not really want to talk about my breast cancer. I did not want the “Poor you” cancer look. This look is the look that I kept getting when people heard I had cancer.

If you ask a cancer patient what you can do to help, if they are anything like me, they will say they need nothing.
