As I previously mentioned that at one point someone once told me that getting cancer is like walking through a door that only opens one way. Once you walk through it you can never go back to the life you had before hearing those words.

When you walk into the Oncology Office the first time you are not a cancer patient but, when you walk out you be one. It is a very rough realization to have to face and you should not be alone when you start this journey. If you do not have someone to go with you you can contact your local American Cancer Society.

Far too often people have the propensity to look for an easy way out when losing weight. While most of us lead busy lives and find it difficult to include exercise, ultimately its up to all of us to prioritize our health.

Heres a few fat loss related studies Ive been reviewing recently:

Friedenreich et al. Adiposity changes after a 1-year aerobic exercise intervention among postmenopausal women: a randomized controlled trial Int J Obes (Lond). 2011 Mar;35(3):427-35

This study put 320 women on a one year  program. There were two groups an exercise group and a control group. The exercise group was instructed to perform 45 mins of moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise five times per week (and over the course of the year, they averaged 3.6 training sessions per week or 178 mins per week).

Study Helps Explain Why Low-Calorie Diets May Increase Life Span

Research has suggested that very low-calorie diets may increase life expectancy in animals, and now a new study in humans provides some important clues as to why this may occur.

In the new study, individuals who had higher metabolic rates — the amount of energy the body uses for normal body functions — were more likely to die early from natural causes than those who had lower metabolic rates.

So maybe you are tired of the gym. Or you want to exercise inexpensively. Or you want to take advantage of the nice weather. There are a myriad of reasons people choose to run. So whatever the reason, virtual high-five! Good for you!
