Just in time for Valentines Day, yoga is a healthy and fun way to celebrate the holiday. In fact, many yoga studios all across the country host yoga for couples classes during the month of February. Yoga for couples attracts not just romantic couples, but friends who share a love of yoga or pals who just want something different to do on the Hallmark holiday.

So exactly what is a yoga for couples class?

Basics

As you probably guessed, the posture work you do involves two people.

Most of us hate to think about it, but screenings are a way to keep us healthy. You are probably afraid that something bad may be found, but if you think about it, early detection is a good thing.

So what are the 10 health screenings every woman should ask her doctor for? First of all, have your blood pressure checked. I think every time I go to the doctor, no matter what it is for, I get my blood pressure checked. You can have it checked at local pharmacies if nothing else.

It may be harder to get your cholesterol checked, but just as important.

Food scientists have developed friendly bacteria that can be added to yoghurt, which can help one lose excess body fat, according to recent reports.

Bacteria occurs naturally in live yoghurts as well as the human gut, and now researchers are saying that it is possible to modify the bacteria in a way that it produces a molecule that helps reduce the amount of fat tissue in the body.

Researchers are of the view that the diet-microbe-host interactions in the gut can determine the amount of fat one carries, and so are hopeful that they will be able to help reduce obesity and improve using this modified bacteria which is added to yoghurt.

The researchers hope to be able to do this by inserting a gene of another bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes, that produces polyunsaturated fatty acid called t10, c12 Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) into the naturally occurring Lactobacillus bacteria, which helps in digestion of food.

Researchers conducted tests on mice using the modified bacterium strain, and found that there were very significant variations found to be present in body fat percentages.

In recent times it has also been seen that t10, c12 CLA can help to shrink the size of fat cells to help reduce excess body bulk.

Oh, this was a health study I hated to read about. A study in the most recent issue of the Journal of the America College of Cardiology says that “prolonged sitting” such as in front of the television and computer is bad for your health.

The study was conducted by Emmanuel Stamatakis, a Ph.D. epidemiologist at University College London, and his colleagues. The study followed 4,500 Scottish people who were 35 and older and recorded their television time, computer time, and other health behaviors.
